DONATIONS TO THE DOHAD SOCIETY
Individuals or corporate entities may become “Benefactors” of the Society by making a donation in excess of £3,000 (US$5,000 or a donation of equivalent value) in a given year to the Society’s Unrestricted Educational Fund.
- Benefactors will be recognised by name, and listed in order of size of donation on the Society’s website and in its disseminated literature. The amount of funds received from benefactors will be available in the public domain, in a special section of the website as well as in official Society accounts.
- Being a Benefactor of the Society signifies that the individual or corporate entity has donated funds to be used to support the aims and mission of the Society. Benefactors are encouraged to disseminate this mission and to endorse its importance in their sphere of influence. The funds are donated into the Society’s Unrestricted Educational Fund.
- Being a Benefactor of the Society is distinct from membership, and does not confer voting rights in the Society or the ability to be nominated for a position on Council or as an Officer of the Society. Individual members of the corporate entity are however encouraged to joint the Society as members
- Benefactors will have free access to information about the Society’s activities, including the newsletter and the Journal of Developmental Origins of Health and Disease
- Benefactor status does not imply that the Society endorses or approves of any product or procedure produced or conducted by the Benefactor, and a Benefactor may not use the name of the Society or its logo in any public announcements, literature, publicity, website or other dissemination, except to state that the individual or corporate entity is a Benefactor of the Society, without the express prior approval of the Council of the Society.
- In the event that the Society has more than 5 Benefactors, each will have one seat on a Committee of Benefactors. One or more Officers of the Society will attend the meetings/teleconferences of this Committee, with the purpose of exchanging information and passing the shared views of the Benefactors back to the Council of the Society. Meetings of the Committee of Benefactors will take place at the Benefactors’ expense, and will not receive financial support from the Society.
- Benefactors shall have no control over the deployment or use of the monies held in the Society’s Unrestricted Educational Fund.
- Being a Benefactor of the Society is distinct from sponsorship, in whole or in part, of a Workshop or International Congress of the Society, and from payment for a trade stand or other display at a Workshop or Congress. Such sponsorship will be negotiated with the Society, via the organising committees of its meetings, in the usual manner.
- The organisers of any workshop/conference/congress wishing to be associated with the DOHaD Society, or wishing to use the DOHaD Society official logo, must guarantee that the main scientific programme has not been influenced by a commercial/corporate Benefactor. If the commercial/corporate entity wishes to hold their own workshop (with their own choice of speakers etc) at the same time and venue as a DOHaD workshop/congress, the programme and abstracts must be distinct and clearly separate from the main workshop/congress programme. Additionally, there should not be excessive advertising of the commercial/corporate entity’s products. For example, it is acceptable for the entity’s logo to appear in a list of sponsors in the programme, but not for it to be advertised widely throughout the workshop/congress on banners.
- Any corporate entity wishing to become a Benefactor must provide evidence that it operates in accordance with internationally recognised codes of practice.
- Status of an individual or corporate entity as a Benefactor must be approved by Council.
